Freud 50-509 top and bottom bearing flush trim bit

1/2 in

The red cylindrical body has a dark pilot bearing at both ends of the cutting section.

When to choose it

The 50-509 can follow a reference surface on either end of its straight carbide section. The two pilots have the same nominal diameter as the cutter, so this is a flush trim profile for copying an established edge.

Choose it when the 1-5/8-inch cutting height and 1/2-inch collet suit the setup. A smaller template or tight inside curve can make the 3/4-inch cutter diameter the deciding limit.

Questions about this product

Does it require a template on one specific side?

The two bearings give a choice of reference side when the setup allows either pilot to contact it.

Will it cut an inside corner square?

A round cutter leaves a radius at an inside turn.

How is 50-501 different?

It retains both bearings with a 1/2-inch diameter and 1/4-inch shank, so check which geometry and collet you need.
